I'm trying to write a piece of C code that has two threads: The first
thread waits for a socket connection. The second thread is in a
continues cycle waiting for an period of time (lets say 500 ms) or an
incomming socket connection (received from the first thread). At this
moment I've created two threads were the first one is already waiting
for an incomming socket connection. I've also created a timer with
timer_create. My problem is that...

Hi
I'm having some weird threading issues.. almost at random, if I dare change
a line of my code, the shutdown sequence gets messed up.
I'm using a thread to receive data from the network, that I suspend and
resume whenver needed. In order to properly shut down the program every
thread has to be aborted. So, I override OnClosing(CancelEventArgs e) in my
main GUI program, and have it perform the following on the thread:

Hi,
Was wondering if its possible to have a event notification in Thread when
the thread is about to start and the thread has just finished doing its work
and about to terminate.
If its not directly available, I was thinking to derive a class form Thread
and provide this events, but again its a sealed class. Is there a way to do
this?
I do not want to waste time pooling or waiting for the other thread to
finish I can rather so someting...

Hi there
My work on threads continues with more or less success. Here is what I'm
trying to do:
Class JobAgent is incharged for some tasks and when it's called it starts
thread which performs the job. Application contains one list of agents
that are idle at the moment and list of busy agents. In loop it checks if
there
are agents in idle list and if there are some, it starts them.

Hi,
I have two threads, one parent thread containing UI and a child thread
waiting for some events from the parent thread. Now, I have two issues: 1)
to keep the child thread active till the end of parent thread. 2) Fire event
from the parent thread to child thread.
To keep the child thread active, i tried different means including
while(1){ application.DoEvents()} but seems that it is not working. I am
unable to make it work.

I am trying to learn how to create an application that uses worker threads
to prevent the UI from freezing up.
My question is: Is the following code considered "thread safe"?
If not, what am I doing wrong?
Thanks

Hello. First post, but been doing a bit of reading here. I am working on a
project in Java, but decided to switch over to C# after seeing some of the
additional features I can get from C#. One of the big changes I want to make
is event-driven code (rather than the linear flow I had in Java). I have
spent a week or so searching Google, talking to a couple of programming
friends, and just chewing on it in my brain. I think I have an ok handle...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
