What was your C++ *language* question? How to use your tools is OT here.

Try a group with emacs or visual studio in its name.

I have not used the emacs, but think that's a configruation problem,
call MS compiler from commandline, link the obj file together to build
a exe file.

Just switch to VS (alt-tab) and compile (F7). It's not that hard.

Hi, I'm trying to learn Python. I using Aquamac an emac implementation with mac os x. I have a program. If I go to the command prompt and type pythong myprog.py, it works. Can the program be run from within the editor or is that not how development is done? I ask because I was using Visual Studio with C# and, if you're familiar, you just hit run and it works. On Python do I use the editor for editing only and then run the program from...

So, what is the relationship between Visual Studio and Visual Web Developer. I find a lot of documentation on MSDN that presents Visual Web Developer as it's own stand-alone product (which I'd expect of the Express editions), but apparently there are NON Express versions of Visual Web Developer. Is Visual Web Developer only built-in to Visual Studio 2008 Professional? I see "Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008" listed as an installed...

I'm not sure if this is an IIS 5.1 issue or ASP.NET issue, or Visual Studio 2008 issue -- thus posting to 3 groups. Please don't be offended. The problem I'm encountering is that Visual Studio closes unexpectedly and without any error message being displayed, or error messages written to the system logs. Visual Studio closes when I attempt to open an ASP.NET Web application (not Web site) solution for which IIS is set as the project's...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
