hello,
I do have a question regarding structs. I have a struct (profil) which
has a pointer to another struct (point). The struct profil stores the
coordinates of points.
The problem is that I don't know how many points
there will be in every struct in the end, so I have to allocate memory
dynamically for
them and can't use an array of fixed size, unfortunately.
I would like to know if there is a better way to access struct members...

Recently i saw a code in which there was a structer defination similar
as bellow:
struct foo
{
int dummy1;
int dummy2;
int last
};
In application the above array is always allocated at runtime using
malloc.In this last member of the structer "int last" is not

The latest project in my ongoing quest to evolve my brain from Pascal to C
is a simple word game that involves stringing together random lists of
words. In the Pascal version the whole array was static; if the input
file contained more than entries, tough.
This time I want to do it right - use a dynamic array that increases in
size with each word read from the file. A few test programs that make use
of **List and realloc( List, blah...

Hi Everyone,
I apologise if this is covered in the FAQ, I did look, but nothing
actually stood out to me as being relative to my subject.
I want to create a 2 dimensional array, a 'array of strings'. I already
know that no individual string will be longer than 50 characters. I just
don't know before run time how many elements of the array will be needed.
I have heard it is possible to dynamically allocate memory for a 2

Dear list,
I'm trying to dynamically generate functions; it seems that what I
really want is beyond C itself, but I'd like to be confirmed here.
In the minimal example below, I'd like to create content to put at
the address pointed to by f. In particular, I'd like to avoid/replace
the memcpy line.
Possible application (inspired by Paul Graham, "ANSI Common Lisp",

I am a little confused as to how I need to allocate memory for a dynamic array inside a struct. Here is the struct that I am using:
typedef struct command_t *commandPtr;
typedef struct command_t
{
char* name;
int argc;
char* argv;
} commandT;

Howdy folks,
I've been working on a c project, compiling using gcc, and I've reached a problem. The assignment requires creation of a two-level directory file system. No files have to be added or deleted, however it must be initialized by a function during run-time to contain so many users which each contain so many directories of which each contain so many files. I've completed the program and have it running flawlessly without implementing...

Hi all,
I have a doubt.
If I have 2 structures and one is parent of other , ie the child
structure is present in the parent one . And if the child structure is
declared as dynamic array in the parent , will it be possible to pass
the parent structure thru network using sockets onto other application
running on different system provided the API is known to both the
sender and the receiver.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
