I need to randomly pick films from a list to automatically generate a
timetable. Each film has a priority and weighting that affects how often it
is picked. For example, say we have 3 films with the following priority and
weighting,
A 1 5%
B 2 10%
C 3 5%
B should be picked more often because of the higher weighting. If films

Hello,
I understand that an easy way to make the standard std::priority_queue
stable is by including an integer stamp with each node that is
incremented each time a new node is pushed into the queue. However, no
matter what reasonably-sized type I use for the stamp, eventually the
stamp will 'wrap around' and possibly cause incorrect ordering of
elements. For my application, which queues elements very quickly and
runs for an...

Hi Everyone,
I was thinking of how to do this for a while now and I cant get my
head round it so I though I'd ask the experts! :-)
What I am doing is reading in large amounts of data over TCP and
saving it to disk. I receive alot of data from alot of clients so I do
all this without processing the data.
When a piece of data from a client has been completed I want to do

My user control has a combobox with an arraylist attached to it along with custom add and remove methods.
The "Add" method is working great. However I don't understand why the "Remove" method isn't working. It neither removes the item from the arraylist nor from the combobox like it's supposed to do.
A couple of notes: cbx is the name of the combobox within my usercontrol, file is the name of the arraylist within my usercontrol. To try...

Is is possible to remove elements from the middle of a
System.Collections.Queue? For the most part i just use endqueue and dequeue
but there are points where i know that i no longer need certain elements
that could be in the middle of the queue that i would like to clean out of
the queue. however, my queue size is gigabytes large and i cant afford the
time to reallocate the entire queue just to remove a middle element. do i
need to write...

Is the STL priority queue a proper implementation of a heap with siftup
algorithm etc ? How do you implement an STL priority queue (link to an
example) ? Is there a resort method, why ?
Thanks

I want to use a priority_queue like STL data structure.
But I found that priority_queue cannot update element value: only pop/
push is supported.
I'm using priority_queue to implement the prim MST algorithm.
So I need the priority_queue to contain the key values for each
vertex not included in the final tree. Of course the pop and push
operation is what I need, but I also need to update the weight value.
Can I use priority_queue to...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
