I hope you can help.
My Linux MYSQL 3.23.52 database server is working OK generally.
However, in a database I have a field name that ends with a # (hash UK as
opposed to £ which is a pound UK) i.e.
If I "select * from emptable" it works fine and the empnumber# field is
listed correctly with all the other fields.

Hello people,
The following is not a troll but a serious request.
I found myself in a position where I have to present a Pro/Con list to management and architects in our company with regard to developing new products (specifically - desktop products) in C#/.NET instead of the usual C++/COM that we do.
Since I am not an experienced .NET developer by any definition, I don't have a good grip on the "Pro" part.
The argument that I hear...

I have a need to compute least cost formulations. This seems to be in
the domain of "linear programming" of which I know practially nothing.
Can anyone in the group give me a point in the right direction...are
there any tools/libraries, books, websites, etc.
TIA,
John

I'm a little bit stuck with NumPy here, and neither the docs nor
trial&error seems to lead me anywhere:
I've got a set of data points (x/y-coordinates) and want to fit a
straight line through them, using LMSE linear regression. Simple
enough. I thought instead of looking up the formulas I'd just see if
there isn't a NumPy function that does exactly this. What I found was
"linear_least_squares", but I can't figure out what kind of...

I need serious help - I have a frontend/backend Access database (2 MDE Files)
that remains stuck in task manager after exiting the application - you can't
reopen database after exiting as a result - I have read every post out there
and spent hours trying to figure out the problem with no success whatsoever -
I have constrained the problem to one form however, and I think it's hiding
somewhere in my code associated with this form, which is...

The task is to solve a constrained optimization problem in C/C++.
Computational
Time is of high priority. One approach can be to use ready functions
in a "free ware" Optimization Library (if available). If any one of
you have any idea about such library please inform me. I am dealing
with Constrained Optimization for the first time so please guide me
How I should solve this problem. I will appreciate suggestions from
you.

Dear python-users,
I am trying to do a non-linear least squares fitting. Maybe trying is
not the best word, as I already succeeded in that. At the moment I am
using leastSquaresFit from Scientific Python. I know of other least
squares routines, such as the one in scipy.optimize and I believe
there is also one in numpy. Now here is my question: in my search for
a good algorithm, I was not able to find any non-linear least squares
fitting...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
