Hello, everyone. I would appreciate any advice that someone could give me on
my future career path. Here is my situation:
I am a bright Junior in a very well-respected private high school, taking
almost all AP and accelerated classes. I am HIGHLY interested in technology,
more specifically the field of Computer Science and software engineering. I
have heard a whole lot about the fact that the market for software engineers

Garbage Collection & Memory Management
Summer School
20-21 July 2004, Canterbury, UK
The performance of today's memory-hungry applications depends on
efficient dynamic memory management, whether managed explicitly through
new/delete or automatically by a garbage collector. With the increasing
use of managed code, whether Java Virtual Machines or Microsoft's
Common Language Runtime, the economic importance of automatic memory
management...

Hi everyone,
I am a Sr. Software Architect and a College Professor in Toronto. I've been
working with .NET since 2001 (Beta1 version), and since then, I've been
promoting .NET Platform throughtout the World. Besides that, I am an active
member of many .NET User Groups and News Groups Across Canada and the US.
Fortunately I've had the chance to redesign one of our IT College Diplomas
and now it is one of the most complete .NET-based...

Sorry this isn't directly concerning a programming language but I
wanted to reach real programmers. I am in college right now and am not
really interested in investing 3 more years of my life for a Bachelors
degree. I know that I can learn more about computer programming if I
spent the time over the next 3 years reading books and programming at
my own pace rather than an instructors pace, as well as not needing to
take so many electives,...

I originally wrote my grades program in MS-Access to help community college
teachers in the California community colleges keep track of their students'
grades and produce reports for the students to know how they are doing in
the semester and to submit reports to the school at the end of the semester.
I later discovered many flaws my program's design and in my own skills as a
programmer.
I would like to put this program "out there" so...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
