What is your favorite profiling tool

Hi, just starting out on C++ this semester. Been learning the language
and g++ compiler.

So, now I'm ready to learn some profiling.

Can someone recommend a nice profiler on Linux systems? What are some
of the popular profilers?

Thank you.

Valgrind (the callgrind tool of valgrind) + kcachegrind which is a
visualization tool for the output of valgrind.

http://www.valgrind.org
http://kcachegrind.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/show.cgi

I've got Visual C++ 2003. I'm looking for a profiling tool. I'm from the Unix world where a good profiler comes free and built into the compiler and linker. I tried the Help utility in Visual C++ and got 500 hits for "profile" .. but none of them indicated that a profiler is built-into Visual C++. Question: Is there a profiler built into Visual C++ 2003? If not, can any one recommend a free profiler?

Hello, I am searching for a good profiling tool for C# which can be easily embedded into Visual Studio. My objective is to measure the times and counts of every method in my program. If used the Coverage Tool of TestDriven.Net (http://www.testdriven.net/) which worked fine if I have defined any Unit test-cases.

Hello, I'm working on the light-weight MDA tool pyswarm, http://pyswarm.sourceforge.net/ (it is about a code-generator for Python/PostgreSQL-based software. I plan to add support of UML CASE tools other than the one supported currently. I would like to learn which UML tools you use (if any), preferrably if it comes to modeling a Python application. So I'm asking you to tell me the name of your favorite UML CASE tool(s).

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
