Where can I find a list and documentation for codecs?
What I want to do is to make a unicode string out of unicode data.
for example. I am parsing NTFS metadata, that contains filenames as
UCS-2 code, so I have a binary string that pretends to be a UCS-2.
Currently I am using hand-written module, a wrapper to iconv library, to make
translation of this data (that is, I used it for that task).
However, I am aware of python's codecs that are...

Hello,
Is there a portable (at least for VC.Net and g++) method to convert text
between
wchar_t and char, using the standard library? I may have missed something
obvious, but the section on codecvt, in Josuttis' "The Standard C++
Library", did not help, and I'm still awaiting delivery of Langer's
"Standard C++ IOStreams and Locales".
Thanks,

Hi
When we installed SqlServer2000 we left the default collation name
(Sql_Latin1_General_CPI_CI_AS).
The user defined databases we created afterwards were defined with a
different collation name in order to be able to accept the character set
we use, Hebrew.
We are looking into switching DTSs that we use to copy data from our
main system , that uses an Ingres database, into OSQL scripts. Although
the DTSs successfully copy the Hebrew...

Python seems to be missing a UCS-32 codec, even in wide builds (not
that it the build should matter).
Is there some deep reason or should I just contribute a patch?
If it's just a bug, should I call the codec 'ucs-32' or 'utf-32'? Or
both (aliased)?
There should be '-le' and '-be' variats, I suppose. Should there be a
variant without explicit endianity, using a BOM to decide (like
'utf-16')?
And it should combine surrogates into...

when our users press "Search and Replace" all is fine exept that they
ALWAYS have
to change the criteria "Match the hole field" to "Part of the field"
(ruffly spelled...(swedish lang)).
-Is there anyway to change/ add some code so that the search dialogbox
shows with this already done? That would make me happy
Thank you for any clue!

I'm trying to find out what the steps look like to upgrade a program
(which is used on Windows and Unix) from Windows-1252 (the Windows "ANSI"
code page) to UCS-2. Currently the program reads and writes files encoded
in Windows-1252 but should be able to read files encoded in UCS-2, too.
As I don't want to deal with two character representations in the program
I plan to use UCS-2 internally. I should be able to simply use
std::wstring...

HI All,
I' working on an ASN.1 parser. The Content Octets (data values) are
stored in a byte. The conversion of byte to char is fairly
trivial. BMP is a special case of UCS, using the lower 65 thousand
characters. Reference http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Character_Set#Encoding_forms_of_the_Universal_Character_Set
How do I specify a character set of UCS (ISO/IEC 10646) when invoking
a string constructor?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
