Just to get my head straight on this...
Firstly, am I right in thinking that right-shifting a signed integer has an
undefined result (i.e. could be implemented as a logical or arithmetic
shift)?
If so, am I also right in assuming that if I right-shift a signed integer by
an unsigned integer, the signed value will be promoted to unsigned...

Hello,
I have written a program that compiles just fine with GCC 3.3. With
GCC 3.4.1 it results in this error:
g++ -O0 -g3 -Wall -c -oTestp.o ../Testp.c
.../Testp.c: In function `int main()':
.../Testp.c:26: error: no match for 'operator<=' in 't <= 2.0e+0'
Please help me, I have no idea where the problem is.

Hey guys, I'm new here, just a simple question.
I'm learning to Program in C, and I was recommended a book called,
"Mastering C Pointers", just asking if any of you have read it,
and if it's worth the $25USD.
I'm just looking for a book on Pointers, because from what I've
read it's one of the toughest topics to understand.
thanks in...

Hi everyone! I am trying to write a program that will search a 12x12 for a
thing called a "blob". A blob in the grid is made up of asterisks. A blob
contains at least one asterisk. If an asterisk is in a blob, an asterisk
that is contiguous to it is in the same blob. If a blob has more than two
asterisks, then each asterisk in the blob...

Is this going to cause me a portability problem?
Purpose: make it easy for me to write my 'help' text block in the .cpp file,
just as I wish it to be output 'formatted-ly' to the user upon demand while
the program is running.
#include <iostream>;
using namespace std;
int main() {
cout<<"these \

I am having the following problem of bit shifting.
My program runs on a little endian machine. Consider that if I have
the following data represented in big endian...
0x12345678
the little endian representation would be
0x78563412.

The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
