Yes, I am sure there are libraries. They are not portable, however.
They can be cross-platform, enough to cover all platforms you're
interested in, but, alas, no completely portable solution exists.
If it did, it would be part of C++ standard library, and it ain't.

OK. The below text is from the MySQL website. "When you connect to a MySQL server, you should use a password. The password is not transmitted in clear text over the connection. Password handling during the client connection sequence was upgraded in MySQL 4.1.1 to be very secure" Has anyone actually tested this by "sniffing" their packets during use? Also, does anybody know if this applies when using VB to connect using the connection...

I just read at http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.access.forms/browse_frm/thread/766ba7b493eacb63/8a7d5504ee848c21?lnk=st&q=migrate+access+97+to+access+2007&rnum=1#8a7d5504ee848c21 that if you have a spilt db using SQL server rather than jet, the front-end's can connect to the backend SQL server over the internet. Has anyone had experience with this? We are thinking of migrating an commercially sold Access97 runtime app to...

I have a A2K database that includes some linked tables (these links are SQL views). Sometimes there are "issues" with the SQL server and the users receive a timeout error whenever they try to access those records. The timeout error occurs after 60 seconds. Many times the user has given up and used ctrl-alt-del to end task thinking their computer has locked up. I suppose I could change the default timeout from 60 seconds down to 30...

Hello, I recently installed new anti-virus software and was surprised the next time I brought up IDLE, that it was accessing the internet. I dislike software accessing the internet without telling me about it, especially because of my slow dial up connection (there is no option where I live), but also because I feel it unsafe. Can anyone recommend an interpreter that does not access the internet when it starts (or when it is running,...

I started experiencing the problems after I replaced my ADSL with a VDSL. It's from the same telephone company in Japan - NTT - and their VDSL is called B Flets (just some additional information) Here's the problem I am experiencing: I can browse through...

I am starting to study internet synchronization, and my head is still spinning since internet is not my forte, however my boss is breathing down my neck at the moment. Our company has only one server with fixed IP address provided by our ISP, while the other sites (which I wish in the future hold the replicas databases) have only standard internet connections with Dynamic IP (which means that they change IP addresses, as given by the ISP...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
