Is there a way (understandably non-portable) to get the
call stack from within a function? That is, assuming the
application has been compiled with symbols, get the list
of calling function names (similar to dbx "where" command").
I am working with IBM compiler and AIX but any other
OS/compiler solution would be interesting as well.
To answer the inevitable question why I want this,
I am writing a simple profiler for my library....

I have a problem that involves the error I receive when attempting to
complete the asp.net web application example (Walkthrough: Creating a Web
Application Using a Third-Party Business Object). When I first create the
SQL connection in VS.NET 2003, I test the connection and everything works
fine. However, when I attempt to run the first stage of the app (the bound
datagrid), I receive an error stating:

in March, i posted a essay “What is Expressiveness in a Computer
Language”, archived at:

I was informed then that there is a academic paper written on this
subject.
On the Expressive Power of Programming Languages, by Matthias

I know this is a very fundamental question. I am still quite confused
if the program call stack stack should always grows upwards from the
bottom, or the opposite, or doesn't matter??
That means the stack pointer should go upwards when there are "push"
operations,
and stack pointer should go downards when there are "pop" operations??
If this is the case, the address should go upwards (increasing) or
downards (decreasing) then? i.e....

I've seen code that allocates an object on the stack and then saves a
class reference to it.
example:
void ScribbleArea::resizeImage( const QSize &newSize)
{
QImage newImage( newSize, );
*m_image = newImage; // m_image is a QImage
}

Hi,
I need to know if stack frames are generated in case of a
inline function execution or
do they execute just like macros?
if they execute like macros, then what is the need for having
inline function?
where would you use macros and where inlines?
Thanks

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
