As a beginning student of C++, books reference "bitwise operators" and give
brief examples, but I have not read a good explanation of what they are used
for. One reference mentioned that they are used in hardware programming.
Are they used very often in routine C/C++ programming, and what for?
thanks,
MJH

Hi all!
I want to check whether a number is odd or even. I've made an algorithm
but I believe there should be a faster one ( maybe a macro ).
Here it goes :
int iseven ( int number )
{
int first;
int tempnum;

I'm writing a program to calc truth tables of arguments to prove that
they are logically valid. Currently, I have to tell the program to
print a truth table, and check it by hand to prove it's valid. I'm
tired of doing this. I need to write a fn that, given three
functions/one function and two variables or anyother combo, run through
all four...

Hi,
This isn't *specifically* an ASP.NET question, so I've also posted it in the
ADO.NET group - however, it's not too far off-topic...
Imagine a SQL Server 2005 database with a table with an int column used for
bitwise data - you know the sort of thing... 0, 1, 2, 4, 8, 16 etc
intBitwise strName

Hi all
Any one of you would give me small c program using bitwise operators to below given statement.
A function setbits(x,p,n,y) that returns x with the n bits that begin at position p set to the rightmost n bits of an unsigned char variable y (leaving other bits unchanged).
For ex:
if x = 10101010 (170 decimal) and...

Hi All
Is there a simple way to twiddle the bits of a float? In particular, I
would like to round my float to the n most significant bits.
For example - 0.123 in binary is 0.000111111
Rounding to 4 bits I get 0.0001.
I can pack and unpack a float into a long

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in...
