11 New Member
hii
i have to write into a file from the start and then go on appending to it .. i tried using ( ios::out|ios::a pp) but by this the file keeps on appending every time i run the program and the file ends up containing valuers from the previous runs as well... actually i am using a loop , which generates different values which are to be added to the file .
can some1 help me with this
i am fairly new to c++

Append usally means add to the end of the current file. So that part is working.

Onn each run have you positioned to the beginning of the file using ios::beg??

This may be the wrong group but I didn't see anything for VC++ so I'm trying here. I have a C++ book by Deitel and Deitel that says I can use fstream File("data.dat", ios::in | ios::out | ios::binary) to declare a file object with read/write modes turned on for working with binary data. I've tried this and my file is not created. The only time it is created is when I specify ifstream or ofstream but not fstream. I've tried removing the...

Hello I need to do this: 1 opening a file for writing/appending 2 to lock the file as for writing (i mean: the program that lock can keep writing, all others programs can't ) 3 wtite and close/unlock Even better would be changing the order of steps 1 and 2 (that is,first locking than writing, but it seems to me that in order to block i need the id of the file...)

Hi - question from a relative asp novice I have written to text files in the past, but always appending new data to the end of the text file. I now want to add the new data to the beginning of the file. The text file would be a record of orders placed through a web form. The text file would merely be a record of the orders but it needs to be in descending date order - each new record added to the beginning.

Greetings! I've just started learning python, so this is probably one of those obvious questions newbies ask. Is there any way in python to check if a text file is blank? What I've tried to do so far is: f = file("friends.txt", "w")

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
