I'm trying to lock a file under windows, using MinGW, I'm using the
same code I use under Linux, but it keeps giving me errors like
aggregate `flock fl' has incomplete type and cannot be defined
`F_SETLK' undeclared (first use this function
`fcntl' undeclared (first use this function
does any one have any idea,
I'm using MinGW gcc 3.2.3

I'm using MinGW gcc 3.2.3
My guess is that you're missing a header (probably fcntl.h), but since
flock and fcntl aren't part of Standard C++ per ISO/IEC 14882:2003,
you're better off asking in a g++ newsgroup, such as gnu.g++.help.
Note that I've cross-posted the response there, and set follow-ups there

Has anyone succeeded in making a usable def file from python23.lib so
that which can be used to compile extensions with mingw32?
I have tried pexports (0.43 and 0.42h) and impdef which have both
failed stating that the file is the wrong type.
I have generated a manual .def file using nm and sed but then I still
get unresolved symbols (of the _imp__XXXXXX variety) when I try to
compile an extension.

I'm writing an app that basically just appends text to a text file on a
Win2K Server. They fill out a form, click a button, and 1 line is
appended to the file. Multiple people will run this app at the same
time, and all will write to the same file. If I do an immediate flush()
on the file after writing the line, is there still a risk that 2
simultaneous writes will collide? If so, what's the best way to handle
this type of file write?

However what I would like to do is have a single global resource file for

The resources in this global resource file will possibly change quite often,

Hi All,
I am working on the situation where 2 different
Process/Application(.net) tries to open file at the same time....Or one
process is updating the file and another process tries to access it,
it throws an exception.
How to solave this problem? So second process can wait until first
process completes its processing on the file.

I understand that I can't hope to pass a FILE* from the Windows
version of Python into a SWIG module that I've built using MinGW gcc/g+
+, because apparently the FILE* structure are different and
incompatible.
Is there an official workaround for this? Presumably I need to
