I've already built a program that calculates a random drawing of loto 6/49 tickets (you guys might have seen some posts about srand() and rand()). I know need more ideas....help me solve my boredom. Thanks

I'm trying to use telnetlib to run a Java program on a remote server. I'm having strange problems, and I'm wondering if anyone might be able to help. I have two UNIX servers, A and Z. I have an application named LATTE that runs on server A. When the user starts LATTE, the user can choose to create a telnet connection back to A, or to Z. Then LATTE uses the telnet connection to run a Java program (run it several times, on different...

Hello there, I have been on and off learning to code (with python being the second language I have worked on after a bit of BASIC). What I really want to know is, if you are going to actually write a program or a project of some sort, how do you actually start. Picture this, you know what you want the program to do (its features), you have a possably rough idea of how the program will work. You have opened an empty text file and saved...

What is the best, simplest and quickest way to go about this? I was thinking, I could have my C++ program write data to a file and then my Java program pick it up from there but this is a little too

Hey all, thanks for taking the time to read this in the first place. Anyway, ill try and keep it simple. In my program, if i type $ man something it should read in the 2 words, man and something it should look up man - find that its a function, run the man function, and then, with that second word "something" it should then execute that as its parameters, if that make sense. At the moment, it semi works, i.e If i type man it will run...

Hello I need some ideas for designing a recursive function for my ray tracing program. The idea behind ray tracing is to follow the electromagnetic rays from the source, as they hit the object. The object is triangulated. The rays can undergo multiple reflections, diffractions etc of the same object i.e. a ray hits a surface of the object, undergoes reflection resulting in a reflected ray which can again hit a surface, corner or edge...

Hey Everyone, I am doing a VB6 to C# conversion and everything was going smoothly until I realized that I needed to call a Fortran 77 (.for) .dll inside my code. I have looked through everything I have found using Google and have still been unable to get it to successfully work. Currently the following call works about 75% of the time, but the other 25% of the time my program just calls the .dll and then it simply exits; no...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
