(again :)) Hello everyone. I'll ask this even at risk of being accused of not researching adequately. My question (before longer reasoning) is: How does declaring (or defining, whatever) a variable **var make it an array of pointers? I realize that 'char **var' is a pointer to a pointer of type char (I hope). And I realize that with var, var is actually a memory address (or at

my earlier post titled: "How to input strings of any lengths into arrays of type: char *array ?" seems to have created a confusion. therefore i paraphrase my problem below. consider the following program: #include<stdio.h> #define SIZE 1 int main()

I have following structure in c++. typedef struct MMF_result_struct { int action; char text; int cols, rows; int month, day, year; } MMF_result; Now this structure is shared between C++ and C# using memory mapped file. We already have C++ code for handling memory mapped file. I am working on converting code for memory mapped file in C#. Now I have to pass pointer to the above structure. I converted this structure to C# as follows:

How many bits we need to save the "number" 1 in a C text file? 00000001? 1 byte? And the "number" 12? Is also a byte? 00001100? And the "number" 300?

I'm trying to use a C++ .lib from C# (I tried the Interop group will no results). I have a working wrapper DLL (I can get back simple things like int), but I'm having issues dealing with an array of bytes. For example, the .lib contains this function: int create(int id, int scale, unsigned char *image); In the wrapper DLL I have this function:

Hi, I have a homework project I am working on, so be forwarned, I'm new to C programming. But anyway, having some trouble with a memory allocation issue related to a char * that is a variable inside of a structure. I keep getting segmentation fault errors and I am having trouble understanding why. Here's the parts of the code in question... This is part of the .h file where the struct us defined...

Hello, Early on I decided that all text (what most people call "strings" ) in my code would be unsigned char *. The reasoning is that the elements of these arrays are decidedly not signed. In fact, they may not even represent complete characters. At this point I think of text as simple binary blobs. What charset, character encoding and termination they use should not be exposed in the interface used to operate on them. But now I have...

Hi Willy, Thank you very much for your work. C++ code doesnot make any serialization. So at runtime C# code gives an serialization error at "msg_file_s sa = (msg_file_s) bf.Deserialize(ms);" I thought that it is very hard to memory map structure array. I need both read and write memory mapped file at both side of C# and C++.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
