Delete Contents of a File

1 New Member
Hi All,

I am using FILE (fprintf) operations to write into a specified file.

Later, at a specific point i need to delete the contents of the file.

Can anyone suggest how i can delete the contents of the file using FILE operations. (not by using iostream, of c++)
ex: fprintf

Thanks,
Arun.

Hi,
You can open the again in write mode, which will delete the contents.
You can also do it using fseek...but not sure abt the logic
Thanks

The contents, or the actual file? (And as we ask everyone, what have you tried on this?)

Hi all, I have the following code which imports the contents of all files within a set folder which works excellently. Once it has imported from each file, it deletes the file. 'assumes they are all the correct format for an ASCII delimited import. Dim strfile As...

Hi! I am a beginner of C. I want to delete some characters or a whole line in a text file. I have tried the "fprintf", "fputs", "fwrite", but no one of them can run rightly. In the below codes, the "str1" is one text line , in fact. I want replace "str1" (the whole line) with the "str3". In my case, "str3" is shooter than "str1", But I will get some strange code that can not be

Hello I'm trying to get a single line removed from a text file using a search pattern (pretty simple: if line contains "NODE1") -> remove line). To achieve this I's like to operate with only the original file and no temp file since the file is 1. on a network resource 2. pretty big 3. accessed by plenty of clients. Copying the file or reading everything into an array and then writing it back using the StreamWriter would lock the file...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
