Reading a file and retrieving the values in c++

105 New Member
Hi all,

I have a txt file in the following format and have to retrieve the values when I give the key. For example:

(key) (value)
File = c:/a.hdr
Range = 10
Reference Value=100

This table is initially stored as file.txt.So initially I have to read this file.txt and I have to retrieve the values of each key.Key and value are separated by " =" operator.

Could anyone please give me an idea of how to start in C++ and how to parse this table and retrieve the values.Any kind of sample program that can give me an idea?If the question is not clear please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Reading text values and parsing input from file streams is a question that has been asked hundreds of times and answered hundreds of times. Try searching google or use the search function of this forum. Also you can try the tutorials on http://cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/

Hi All, I'm writing a Windows Service app using C#. I need to read some configuration settings before the service starts up. These settings will be used by the service in its operation. Question is, which is the best way to store & retrieve the settings? I'm thinking of storing it in the registry in HKLM\Software\ServiceName and access it using the Registry class in the "public ServiceName()" method. I'm instructing the service...

Hi All. I'm working for a company that has set out a guideline for retrieving data from a database. Nobody can explain to me the reason for the following. When retrieving a set of records from database to a VB.net app, they retrieve the database fields as a record set eg. "select name, suburb from myTable"

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
