MFC dialog-based application

79 New Member
I want to learn MFC dialog-based application. I found some reference books that describe the Single/Multi-View Applications only. I also tried to find some websites that describes dialog-based application too briefly.

Please! Anyone knows which site has complete reference/tutorial about dialog-based application of MFC programming??

I suggest you just fire up MSVC and create one.

It will create the dialogue box for you, all you have to do is put the controls you want on it and create handlers/variables for those controls through the Class Wizard.

Hi, What is the best way to transfer variables to and from a dialog box? My project consists of a form with a number of controls, lets say three Labels, when a label is clicked it opens a dialog box with a text box in it and the text box data will be returned to the label that was clicked. Don't laugh but this is the code I use, it's OK for three controls but gets complicated when using alot of controls and although it works I think its...

I'm fairly new to c#, and I am just trying to work out how a 'properties' dialog works. Currently in my code, I have an object represented by the class 'Dog'. The dog object has several properties. I have added a new windows form, class 'DogProperties'. I'm attempting to use this to allow the user to edit the properties of an instance of 'Dog'.

I'm loading a form into a modal dialog box and I'm trying to assign a click event to the button in the form, but I can't seem to get anything to happen. Below is the code. Thanks in advance. jQuery: jQuery(document).ready(function() { jQuery("a").click(function() { jQuery("#dialog").dialog({ modal: true,

Hi. I have a modal dialog whcih has a "Browse..." button which pops up a file selector. This all works fine, but the first thing the user has to do when they open the dialog is select a file, so I would like the dialog to automatically call the onBrowse function as soon as the dialog opens. However, I don't know how to do this. dlg.ShowModal() onBrowse() obviously doesn't work, and neither does the reverse. I was hoping

How can I capture the name of the file a user right clicks in the open file dialog using the common dialog box control? I can capture the name if a file is double clicked, or OPEN is clicked after selecting a file, or CANCEL clicked, but if they choose to right click on a file and choose OPEN WITH option, then I can't seem to get the name of the file they selected. In VB6, a custom dialog can be easily created by adding a new form, adding whatever controls you like, sizing it as you like, adding code and then just loading/unloading it whenever you like. Using Access 07, a form is a little different beast and it would appear a custom dialog cannot be created in the same way. How does one go about creating a custom dialog? Note that I am not well experienced in programming but I have a couple of...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
