From my experience, Core dump is like runtime error. Such as Looping unlimited or run many data and then want to stop suddenly.

I've two questions, they may or may not be related - 1. I copied the entire data directory from postgreSQL 7.3.2 (AIX4.3) to the installation postgreSQL 7.3.4 (AIX5.1), the same filesystem setup. I didn't do an dump/reload process since the copy process is faster. Is it OK to take this shortcut in postgreSQL? any side-effects? 2. The copied database with 7.3.4 pgsql and 7.3.2 data dir seems running OK. But when I run the following...

hello, i'm writing a c program on a linux system. i'm debugging a segmentation fault but i don't want it to dump a core file because the memory footprint of the program is over 300Mb and i don't need it to generate a 300Mb file every time I add a new printf statement to debug the code. can i do something to prevent it from dumping the core file even when it seg faults? (is this a unix/linux thing, or a c thing?) thanks!

We upgraded from 7.2 to 7.4, it looks like everything working, but when I issue a query such as select * from tab (tab has about 2-3 million records), it causes core dump. I tuned some the parameters, it still produce the core. Thanks for any hints.

One approach is to use stack trace of the mdb debugger, but I does not understand its output completely. e.g. How to interpret the stack trace to find out which line inside the coredump_func function of a test program caused the

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
