Hi! I'm looking for a way to validate a password within PL/SQL. I want to
write
CREATE PROCEDURE change_password(old_password IN VARCHAR2)
IS
BEGIN
-- check if old_password is correct... but how?
I can get the hashed value of the password from DBA_USERS, of course, but is
there a way to hash old_password to see if it matches? (I wouldn't be

I am building a simple access database for a small home business. I
have a table containing userid, password, and rights(either admin or
regular) which will simply stop someone from clicking on certain
command buttons. Setting up users and groups is really not neccessary
as it is just a few people logging in. The problem i have Is I can't
figure out how to return the rights value after the usrid and password

Hi,
I developed an aplication for an autoservice Kiosk, witch will be
rented to customers. I want to lock a folder where sensitive files will
reside, something like a password. Encryption will not work because the
files are many and are big (25Mb aprox every file).
Any suggestion will be really apreciated,
Greetings,

OK, I have code that I used in a standard windows app
that would create an account and then set the password.
I have taken that code and am using it in a Web App.
Here's the code:
user.CommitChanges();
user.Properties.Value = 0x200; //Normal user
user.Invoke("SetPassword", new object {szPassword});

I am developing an application which will allow users (students) to run
applications on PC's with elevated rights. This is necessary for some
applications which require Administrator rights on the PC.
I now need to store the local administrator username and password

I am looking for comments on

Hi everyone:
I created a custom toolbar called Password, so users can change their
password. I used the Command "User and Group Accounts". I know the
user can not change anything in the Tab "Users" or "Groups" in the
"User and Group Accounts" and can only use the tab "Change Logon
Password", but can I force a tab selection to the tab "Change Logon
Password" and disable the other two tabs? Or does anyone know of an
alternative way to...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
