Hi,
I'm trying to open a file with read access only, e.g. FileStream fs = new
FileStream("C:\foo.txt", FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read); The file is open
by another process and the FileStream constructor throws an IOException. I
thought that it was possible to open a file with read access even if it's
being used by another process. Is that not true?
Thanks,
Otik

I have been searching the 'Net, and I can't find the right solution
here. I am writing some PHP pages that utilize some Javascript. The
script works in Mozilla/Netscape, but fails in IE. I don't know if
it's the Javascript or the PHP that is causing the problem. I started
with an example in a book and added on.
The script I'm using is:
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="Javascript" TYPE="text/javascript">

Can someone please help with this problem. When referring to opening a
database in Exclusive mode the Access 2003 help says:
"Under Default open mode, do one of the following:
If you want others to be able to open the Microsoft Access database at
the same time you have it open, click Shared.
If you want sole access to the Access database when you have it open,
click Exclusive."

Immediately after generating the Access application from the Source

If Access database closed and then reopened I get:
"-2147467259 The database has been place in a state by user
'Admin' on machine ..... that prevents it from being opened or
locked."

Hi,
is there a way to or at least a reason why I can not use tarfile to
create a gzip or bunzip2 compressed archive in the memory?
You might might wanna answer "use StringIO" but this isn't such easy
as it seems to be. ;) I am using Python 2.5.2, by the way. I think
this is a bug in at least in this version of python, but maybe
StringIO isn't just file-like enough for this "korky" tarfile module.
But this would conflict with its...

I have a simple webservice that performs a SELECT query against a database, and then an INSERT statement on the same database/table. The problem arises at the time when we create the second OleDB connection object and attempt to Open() it. The connection string is exactly the same for both connection objects. Another intersting thing is that this code works fine when it is used in a Windows Form project.
The code snippet:
try

Hi All,
We use “adModeShareDenyNone” open mode to allow others users to connect to database at the same time.
But when I open database through one client on computer, other user(computer) can not connect to database. It gets an error saying “file already in use”.
What can be the reason?
Note :: I have distributed .exe (front end) to different users.
## some part of code (visual basic)

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
