This is a best practices question.
For a website where PHP is used, does it make sense to have both .htm and .php
files? In other words, for pages that have no active content there's no point
in naming them with a .php extension.
Is there any advantage or disadvantage to making all files .php, or the same for
mixing them with .htm files?
What do you do, and why?

2 Questions:
1.) Can anyone think of a way to speed up this function? It is
terribly slow. I plan to reduce the number of directories to 3, which
I guess will speed it up in the end.
2.) This seems to be the brute force method, and I'm wondering if
anyone can think of a better strategy. I've been asked to make life
easy on graphic designers by not making assumptions about where I
might find the files that the software might need to...

I have a script which I use to find all duplicates of files within a
given directory and all its subdirectories. It seems like it's longer
than it needs to be but I can't figure out how to shorten it. Perhaps
there are some python features or libraries I'm not taking advantage of.
The way it works is that it puts references to all the files in a
dictionary with file size being the key. The dictionary can hold
multiple values per key....

Hello,
In using Solaris Pro Compiler to compile Pro*C code. I am getting this
error:
make: Fatal error in reader: parser_proc_online.mk, line 26: Badly
formed macro assignment
Based on other posts, this error is not related to C but related more
to my lack of understanding. When I look for line 26 in my make file,
it does not correlate to a MACRO assignment. Should I count blank or

I'm preparing to distribute a Windows XP Python program and some
ancillary files,
and I wanted to put everything in a .ZIP archive. It proved to be
inordinately
difficult and I thought I would post my solution here. Is there a
better one?
Suppose you have a set of files in a directory c:\a\b and some
additional
files in c:\a\b\subdir. Using a Python script, you would

I would like to hear opinions on the tradeoffs of putting the tables,
forms, and queries for several related datasets in separate databases
vs one combined database.
I am working on an application that will have a number of "subjects".
The subjects have a number of commonalities, but are not identical. I
am hoping that I will discover that the subjects fall into a few
"types" and a common database structure can be used for each type.

What sense do h files make in c/cpp?
I never thought about this question before.
Does the existence of h files make sense at all?
Why do we need to declare functions in h files and define/implement
them in cpp?

Note: You may skip to the end of the article if all you want is the perl code.
Introduction
Many websites have a form or a link you can use to download a file. You click a form button or click on a link and after a moment or two a file download dialog box pops-up in your web browser and prompts you for some instructions, such as “open” or “save“. I’m going to show you how to do that using a perl script.

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
