We've a Red Hat Linux box from which I'm serving websites and I need to keep track of how much bandwidth each website uses. Keeping track of bandwidth by directory is easy enough - there is a lot of free software that automates the task. However, I've written a PHP script that lets people send out email from a control panel on their site. My understanding is that the PHP talks to the server's MTA and sends out the email through it. My...

Hi NG, we've got a very urgent problem... :( We are importing data with the LOAD utility. The input DATE field data is in the format DDMMYYYY (for days) and MMYYYY (for months). The target data format is european DD.MM.YYYY (for days) and 01.MM.YYYY (for months). The input format is not recognizable as a DATE input to a DB2 LOAD for

I'm using the function clock() to measure the run time of a program so that I can compare among several different algorithms. My code looks like: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <assert.h> #include <time.h> int main() { clock_t start, stop;

I have just discovered the existance of Puppy Linux which is a complete operating system with a suite of GUI apps, only about 50 - 60M booting directly off the CDROM ( http://www.puppylinux.org ). This approach appears to me very Pythonic, so it were a nice thing to have a full featured Puppy Linux Live CD prepared for Python programming. Have someone already breed a Python Puppy and is so kind to share a copy of it with me?

On a warehouse app, our Java clients constantly load/insert rows into the db. I would like to throttle these inserts (1.5 million rows per hr) from the Java app, based on current 'busy state' of the server. It would be nice if I can get the server CPU utilization (and other key factors) from db2 via jdbc. However, it needs to be low cost, since it would likely run every x seconds. System: db2 v 9.1 64bit on Centos 4.3 64 bit. Thank...

I am looking for comments on experience using a Load from Cursor across multiple db's databases. I have a multi-terrabyte database across many partitions that includes a large table (1 Tb+). The system also contains UTF-8 and LOB data. I am about to refresh the existing platform - going from V8.2 to V9 and leveraging new hardware. I an staying with SuSe Linux at 64-bit. Does anyone have experience using this? My initial plan was to...

Hello, I'm no LAMP expert, and a friend of mine is running a site which is a bit overloaded. Before upgrading, he'd like to make sure there's no easy way to improve efficiency. A couple of things: - MySQL : as much as possible, he keeps query results in RAM, but apparently, each is session-specific, which means that results can't be shared with other users.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
