Cannot Convert Parameter Error...Please Help

1 New Member
This is the function I'm getting the error on:

S32 GuiAviBitmapCtr l::fileOpen()
{
S32 rval;
if (!dStrcmp(mAviF ilename,""))
return MOVERR_NOVIDEOS TREAM;

rval = AVIFileOpen(&mP File, mAviFilename, OF_SHARE_DENY_W RITE, 0);
if (rval)
{
fileClose();
return rval;
}

return MOVERR_OK;
}

and this is the error:
Error 132 error C2664: 'AVIFileOpenW' : cannot convert parameter 2 from 'StringTableEnt ry' to 'LPCWSTR'

Any help is appreciated.... thanks !

It is complaining because mAviFilename is of type StringTableEntr y and AVIFileOpen is expecting type LPCWSTR (which is a pointer type). You will need to provide a converstion between the 2 types.

It is possible that if StringTableEntr y is a class or structure that it has a member function that will convert the data and return the correct type for you.

A quick google suggests

mAviFilename.ge tString()

Dear members: I want to use the multithread in my program which is developed in Visual C++ platform (version 6). I created a controlling function: UINT CCOMM1Dlg::WritingThreadFunc(LPVOID pParam) for a thread The reason that I want it to belong to the class CCOMM1Dlg is that in this function I need to process some member variables of the class.

This is my first foray into writing a generic method and maybe I've bitten off more than I can chew. My intent is to have a generic method that accepts a value name and that value will be returned from the source. My first attempt was as follows; (please ignore that error handling is not present in this example) public T GetValue<T(string objName) { T results;

i'm having problems with this portion of code... the entire program is an invoice for a carpet installation asking for the room dimensions and various rates and amounts to calculate how much to charge someone for service. the assignment requires you to pass at least one parameter by reference, which would be in this function. i've tried a ton of different ways to do it but clearly i don't understand the whole function scene because i just...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
