PHP has some pretty funky error messages:
"parse error, unexpected T_IF";
"Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING";
Humans often see these - shouldn't they be more human readable?
....and why are there no stack backtraces?
When a problem arises, I am often interested in knowing where the

Hi Everybody
I have been looking out for a Function call tree command in Unix
environment.
Given a piece of source code(millions of lines), there is a function
F1() calling F2() calling F3().
The tools should analyse the C/C++ source code & provide a tree-like
structure denoting the sequence of calls made by a particular

Hi,
I'd like to colaborate with an open source project that have been in
development for the last four years. There is almost no documentation at
all, and it's extremely hard even to get a global view of what's going on.
Do you know any good tool (maybe a call graph tool, but anything which
helps is ok) for this ?
Any comments would be really welcome.

Hi,
I want to create a tags file using CTAGS for C++ code. I have a list of
files stored in a file "fileList". I want to use file names listed in
this file as input to the "ctags" command. How can we do that?

Hi
Whenever I use the gets() function, the gnu c compiler gives a
warning that it is dangerous to use gets(). Is this due to the
possibility of array overflow? Is it correct that the program flow can
be altered by giving some specific calculated inputs to gets()? How
could anyone do so once the executable binary have been generated? I
have heard many of the security problems and other bugs are due to
array overflows.

Dear All,
Has anybody tried to use ID Utils
(http://www.gnu.org/software/idutils/46) with Python? I've googled, searched
the mailing list, and have found nothing.
A silly, simple use of IDUtils with Python code does work, using a language
map that says *.py files are text files. But I am wondering if someone has
done something more sophisticated. (For instance, I get matches to
commented out functions, which I'd rather not, lots of...

Hello,
When reading source code, perhaps written by others and
consisting of a large number of files organized into a large
number of directories, several identifiers of unknown origin,
purpose, or use are encountered. In these cases it is nice
to be able to click on such an identifier to be able to bring
up a list of all files in the source code in which such an
identifier appears with the file path displayed as part of
the filename....

Can ctags or any tag utilities for Linux tag java
..jar or .zip files? I'm guessing no. Looking in
for example tools.jar, they are all .class files.
So whatever tool tags these java archives would
have to decompile the .class files on the fly.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
-Thanks

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
