Hi all,
I wonder, if anybody here has any source code or component, which can
read EXIF informations from JPEG pictures. Or some good, easy to
understood, description of JPEG files. I didn't find anything useful on
web yet.
Thanks very much for any help.

This is not source wanted newsgroup. As far as C is concerned, jpegs
are just binary files.
To find a description of these files, or most any other, go to: http://www.wotsit.org

That's not a C question, but a file format (or algorithm) question. Once
you know how a JPEG file looks, it should not be much of a problem. But
have you seen <http://www.wotsit.org/>? They have full specs for the
JPEG format, and some information on EXIF, as well.

Does anyone know about a free API to insert textual data (like EXIF)
into JPEG's and/or TIFF's?
I've looked around but haven't found anything worth using. Most of the
things I've found are, naturally, tools for extracting info from
omages but I want to insert data...

I'm not sure whether I am approaching this correctly?
I'm trying to get the focal length from exif info stored in an image.
The Visual studio help says it is stored in "An array of two Byte objects
that represent a rational number".
Yet there are eight bytes in the info? shown below.
89 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to write up a simple image stamper application that stamps the
Exif date information from the jpegs that I've taken from my digital
camera and saves the new file with the date stamped on the lower right
part of the picture. (I'm not an advanced programmer so my code may not
be 100% efficient - sorry, I'm still learning)
Everything works fine until the saving part. I've been able to read the
file into a...

Is there somewhere some Python-module that can be used for adding EXIF-info
to JPEG files?
(Modules for extraction of EXIF-data are easily found, but lacks - as I see
it - capacity to add new tags.)

Does anybody have a pointer to a Python library/utility that will
extract the chrominance and luminance quantization tables from JPG images?
I have been using the _getexif method from PIL, which works fine, but
doesn't extract the quantization data. I am a bit fuzzy on the
terminology, but the quantization data seems to be JPEG data rather
than EXIF data. One utility that extracts the quantization tables is
JPEGsnoop -- there is a...

Folks,
Short and sweet - does anyone know of a plug in or something I can use
to read an AAC files encoding type (AAC, eAAC, eAAC+), bitrate,
duration etc? I can handle WMA, MP3 and WAV, but to finish my testing
(using FitNesse) I need to be able to handle AAC, and the WMF SDK
doesnt support it.
TIA (couldnt resist one last acronym!)

I am working on a program the reads the user comment field of a jpg file.
When I read it in using GetPropertyItem to get the property and saving it to
a variable with item=Encoding.UTF8.GetString(PropItem.Value).Trim() I get a
string that looks like \0\0\0\0\0\0my text here.
Is there a way for me to strip all of the \0s from the string?
Thanks,
Tim

Hi,
I'm using the Python Imaging Library (PIL v1.1.6) to batch resize images. Problem is, it erases the IPTC and EXIF data for the resized file. I want the data to stay. Help??

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
