I refined my attempt a little further, and the following code does
seem to work, however it has 2 major problems:
1. Very limited support for XPath features
Basic paths are supported for elements, attributes, ".", and "..",
plus also the "" predicate format is supported -
however, only one predicate per path step is supported, and expr must
be a relative path.
2. Poor performance

Hi all,
I'm having some trouble with a linked list function and was wondering if
anyone could shed any light on it. Basically I have a singly-linked list
which stores pid numbers of a process's children - when a child is fork()ed
its pid is added to the linked list. I then have a SIGCHLD handler which is
supposed to remove the pid from the list when a child exits. The problem I'm
having is that very very occasionally and seemingly...

Heres the story, I have to create a doubly linked list for
class, and i have no clue on how to do it, i can barely create a
single linked list. It has to have both a head and a tail pointer,
and each node in the list must contain two pointers, one pointing
forward and one pointing backwards.
Each node in the list will contain 3 data values: an item ID
(string), a quantity (integer) and a price (float). The ID will
contain only letters and...

I would be grateful if someone had a minute or two to review my hash
table implementation. It's not yet commented but hopefully it's short
and idiomatic enough to be readable. Some of the code (i.e. the
get_hash function) is borrowed from various snippets I found on the
net. Thee free function could probably need some love. I have been
thinking about having a second linked list of all entries so that the
cost of freeing is in proportion to...

I am working through this book on C++ programming, the author is
speaking of using linked lists. He gave and example which I found
confusing to say the least. So I rewrote the example in a way that I
could better understand the concept, he was trying to convey to me.
I ran my own example and it crashed and burn "what a surprise!" : (. I
ran the authors example out of the book and quess what, it crashed
also, : 0. I ran them both on my...

I am creating a class (or so I hope) which is to be a JobCollection,
linked list of 'Job'. Job is another class already created.
JobCollection is just the linked list manager.
I have to have this separated into a .h and .cpp file. The code I am
attempting to put into the class is code that I have used before, but
simply put into the same file/class with the rest of the application.
My header looks like this:

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
