Web Cam, Notification of Broadcast

Ray
Does anyone know if there is a notification broadcast, or alternatively a
message that can be sent to the system, that would inform me that a web
camera attached to the local computer was in use, or not?

Thanks,
Ray

Depends on which webcam (off-topic), which OS (off-topic). If you are using
USB (off-topic) your USB-driver should be notified (off-topic) and depending
on your OS (off-topic) your application can/will/can't/won't be notified.

My advice:

* Suply details.
* Find appropriate newsgroup
* Try again.

Dandelion,
Thanks for responding. Well I am using VB6 for my app. And found that I
am unable to get a True notification if the web cam is in use without a
(Video Source) window popping up, the False works fine.
It was suggested to try VC group to find the answer.

OS - Windows XP Home and Pro
Web Cam - USB
I just need a (true/false) for my VB6 application with out the select video
source window coming up.

Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.
Ray

I want to develop a software that need to know the notification when a windows PC in the LAN is powering on, I don't want this software to do polling, I want this software can get the notification from the powering on PC. Assume the PC does not have any software except the Windows system, even there is no snmp installed. Is it possible to do this? How about get the ARP packet? If it is possible, how to do it in Windows?

I have a separate thread that handles data transfer operations (with a mobile device). I've set things up so that a small notification form is displayed in the lower right corner of the window. This all works fine. But what I can't figure out how to do is to get it to display on top of my main form, if the main form is maximized. I've tried all of the following: statusForm = new frmNotify(); statusForm.Show(); // Display...

Hello, this might be an easy question, but I don't have any handy solution at hand. I have an application that is supposed to send UDP broadcast. So far so easy, I did: Socket sockSendBroadcast = null; IPEndPoint ipeSendBroadcast = null; ipeSendBroadcast = new IPEndPoint(IPAddress.Broadcast, iSomePort);

I will be developping a planning application for wich it's necessary for multiple users to view and edit the same data, all changes made by one user, must be visible to the other user's more or less immediately (on their pc). So I'm looking for a mechanism with wich I can notify the 'other' applications on the network of any changes so they can update their 'view' if necessary. Although I think I'm capable of solving this problem by...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
