I have used the simple example of HTTP Authentication from the PHP website
as follows:
<?php
if (!isset($_SERVER)) {
header('WWW-Authenticate: Basic realm="My Realm"');
header('HTTP/1.0 401 Unauthorized');
echo 'Text to send if user hits Cancel button';
exit;
} else {

Greetings. I am designing a PHP application (yes, I have
investigated using existing applications). I cannot use HTTPS
for reasons I shall not disclose. I must authenticate users
against a database (MySQL) before granting them access. There
are two methods I am considering: HTTP authentication, and session
authentication. My webpage is spread across multiple scripts, and
the user must not have to repeatedly reauthenticate him/herself.
It...

I have set up an ASP script (with some help from microsoft.public.inetserver.asp.general!) that grabs the windows username of the user and puts it into an Access database.
It is setup on IIS5 as a virtual directory and will only be used internally on our network.
The script works fine with the authentication set as "basic authentication" but this prompts the user for a login and password.
I want it to be automated which I believe would...

I am programming what is to be a web service client that will use an
HTTP-POST to request and retrieve data. The remote server (written in java
for what it's worth) requires basic authentication as per RFC 2617
(http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2617.html). My attempts to authenticate are
failing. The server requires the header to be present with the request.
For security reasons, it will not reply in any way if the header is not
present.

Hi,
I've created a small forms based application in c# to test a vendor's
product and the web service interface that it exposes. We have deployed two
instances of the vendor product one which has an unprotected (no
authentication) interface and one that is protected using HTTP basic
authentication.
I can invoke methods on the unprotected instance and everything's fine. When
I attempt to invoke methods on the protected instance the...

Hello
I have a PHP script rss.php that serves RSS to clients. It
work fine, but I'd like to server customized contents, and for this, I
need to know who the user is.
Unless there's a better way, it looks like the easiest way is to use
HTTP basic authentication:

Hi,
when accessing a secured 3rd party webservice i'm getting a 401 HTTP Statuscode (unauthorized). When entering the url in
a browser and entering the username and password manually, the wsdl is returned. So the username and password should
be ok.
I'm using this code:
Merchant myMerch = new Merchant();
myMerch.merchantIdentifier=merchantId;

Following the tutorial at http://personalpages.tds.net/~kent37/kk/00010.html,
I understand how to access HTTP basic authenticated pages or form-
based authenticated pages. How would I access a page protected by both
form-based authentication (using cookies) *and* HTTP basic
authentication?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
