I am using the System.IO.File class to determine if a file exists on a
network share.
The File.Exists method keeps returning false, even though the file does
exist. The MSDN documentation states,
"If the caller does not have sufficient permissions to read the specified
file, no exception is thrown and the method returns false regardless of the
existence of path."

What is the quickiest and easiest way to make a py script run on a Web
server? I have access to an Apache Web server running on Linux.
I'm often asked to run some of my scripts on behalf of others. My hope
is to make a simple Web-based interface where people could run the
scripts themselves whenever they like... instead of asking me.
I'd rather not rewrite the scripts with PHP. Any tips on a fast, easy
way of doing this?

Hello,
In one of my asp.net applications I test the existence of a file, like so:
File.Exists(Server.MapPath("/path/file.jpg")));
This was failing, even though the path returned by Server.MapPath was
clearly present. After some debugging, I discovered that the the asp.net
account didn't have permission to execute File.Exists. Apparently
File.Exists simply returns "false" instead of throwing an exception if
it doesn't have the...

Our application write logs to a file in a folder. Before our application
starts writing to that file, I want to check if the current user has write
access to that file, for example, "c:\temp\LogFile.txt".
I see several articles for setting file access permissions, getting file
access permissions for a given user or current user - but the current user
could also gain write access to the same file not just by explicit permssion...
