Hi,
Where would one start for this type of application:
I want to create an vb.net container application that has
the gives the end user the ability to install and
uninstall plugins or add-in modules. As the user installs
the various components, additional functionality to the
application is integrated. How would I structure or
orchestrate a project plan that makes use of add-in

what's the differences between collocated architecture
and distributed architecture??
My understanding is that collocated architecture has
everything in a single machine? i.e. There is only
1 machine in middle business tier?
But distributed architecture distributes the load in
multiple machines? i.e. There are multiple machines
in middle business tier?

Hi,
I've been working on designing new architecture to be
used for future development using C#.
We're going quite well with the architecture, having
originally decided not to use the dataset, datatable,
dataadapter type implementation. Instead we are using
our own implementation using business entities,
controlling processes, etc., so we have definite

I'm working on a Windows application but I would like to be able to build it
using n-tier architecture. Since it's a pretty straightforward (and simple)
app that queries and updates a database, at a minimum I'd like to be able to
use a 3-tier design (user, business objects, data access). Are there any
sites out there that clearly explain how a db architecture should be
created? For example, if, from my main form, I call GetAllClients(),...

This may not be a direct C# question, but since I'll be using using C# for
development, I thought I'd pose the question here.
I'll soon be involved in the design of a new software product that will
employ a software "Plug-In" architecture. Taking the plug-in route will
give us a design that can adapt to, as yet, undefined future requirements
(within the scope of the plug-in interface spec of course). In the past
I've done this with...

Hey guys,
I just recently got introduced to data mappers (DTO mapper). So now I
have a SqlHelper being used by DTOMapper and then business layer is
using DTOMapper when it needs to persist object to database or load them
back. Everything is working nicely so far. My question is, is it OK
practice to use DTOMapper rfom the presentation layer? For instance, if
I want to present in HTML format the list of entries in my database,
should I...

I have a couple questions. First of all, would anyone consider a
multi-layered programming approach (building business objects that are
seperate from data access logic and seperate from user interface logic but
that interface the UI and the data) an n-tier implementation by definition?
Or does n-tier necessitate a network-distributed architecture (beyond IIS
and SQL Server, i.e. COM+/MTS/MSMQ/WCF) in addition to the layered
programming? If...

I currently have a classic asp/COM+ architecture setup as following:
Server A- hosts all the classic asp front end pages
Server B- host all the business layer dlls. They are currently
registered through COM+
Server C- contains database
We are migrating to .NET and I would like to keep the same distributed
architecture, but it appears that asp.net applications copy all the
business layer dlls into their bin directory. I know that...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
