Hi,
I'm hoping that someone can point me into the right direction here. I'm
trying to gain a bit of a better understanding on how the preprocessor
works - something that seems like a simple topic! I just keep running into
problems (Windows platform) because files are included in the wrong order,
one include file messes up the other one etc.. I think I need to brush up on
some basics here.

I created a simple win32 dll using MS Visual Studio 6.0.
Then I converted my project (dsp & dsw) to .net solution.
For that I opened it in Visual Studio .Net and the first time it shown me a
message box stating that the abc.dsp should be converted to VS .Net project
format. Selecting ‘Yes’ I converted it to VS .Net project format.
Now the problem with this project is I am not able to add any new

Can anyone tell me why would #using ... not be working???? MSDN says nothing

I imported a VC++6.0 project into VC++7.1. The conversion operation makes a mess with Preprocessor Definitions, adding a "$(NoInherit)" for each file.
For example: I had a DLL project in VC++6.0 where the definitions were:
_UNICODE,_DEBUG,_WIN32_DCOM,WIN32,_WINDOWS,_WINDLL,_AFXDLL,_USRDLL
In VC++7.1, these are the preprocessor definitions of the project (right-click the project in Solution Explorer and choose Properties -> C++ ->...

Does C# have any predefined preprocessor constants like the C/C++
compiler does? In C++ you had such predefined constants as:
__cplusplus, _DEBUG, _WIN32, MSC_VER.
Are there any such things for C#? It would be nice if there were some
for .Net version (1 or 2), compact framework or full framework, etc.

All,
I'm looking for a tool that is able to take my code base (which is
full of preprocessor directives) and spit out source code that is
"clean" of any preprocessor directives based on the options I choose
(possibly via some kind of user input screen).
Does such a tool exist? A Visual Studio plugin would be even better.
FYI: I have requirements to rid my code of all conditionally compiled

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
