regarding debugging code in static mode

hi , I have a problem where in I get core dump if i build
my appln in static mode , but I dont get any core dump if
if my application is compiled in debug mode.

I think , this problem is quite resonable because , I have seen
in debug mode local varible unintialised would be initilised to
0 in case of debug mode , but this is not seen in static mode.

My questions

1. Is there any type of problem that can occur in static mode
2. Is there any way to debug core
3. is there any way to trace the bug

Thanks

Mohan

I am getting a non-reproduceable release mode only error, that is proving to be really a pain. I can in some cases narrow it down by try/catch blocks but even that behavior is totally f*ed up. For example, I have this gem: try { int x = Foo(); } catch (...) { int x = Foo();

Hi All, Did somebody see the situation when the VS refuses to debug the Web Service at all? I can't catch why, the initially created Web Service can be debugged very easy but after some changes in a source code, maybe the source code becomes bigger that some hidden threshold, the debugger can't enter into this code anymore. I can use this web service, all methods but can't see in debugger what's going on. I have already catched this...

under ASP.NET, single stepping in debug mode appears not to stop within event procedures. i.e. 1) Create web page with submit button and event procedure for the click event in the code behind page, 2) Breakpoint in the Page_Load, 3) debug the web page and click the submit button, 4) "step into" under debug several times, 5) The debugger does not stop at any of the statements in the click event handler. A breakpoint is needed in each...

I have a project built for ASP.NET that recently started running really slow in debug mode (it takes about 10 seconds or more to step from one line of code to the next). This just started recently and only impacts one ASP.NET project. I have some other ASP.NET projects that I can step thru with the debugger with almost instant response. I also have some Windows Forms projects that work normally. I am running Visual Studio 2003 and...

Scenario: This is about debugging server side scripts that make calls to middle-tier business DLLs. The server side scripts are legacy ASP 3.0 pages, and the DLLs are managed DLLs converted/developed with VB.NET. What I want from debugging is to be able to step into the methods in the DLLs called from ASP scripts using Visual Studio .NET. Background: For typical script debugging issues, you can read and follow the two documents on...

hi, I'm still in the process of transiting from MFC/VC6 to vs2005, and a lot of things are very alien to me. So hope you could bear with me if my question sounds stupid. Basically I have native codes written in VC6 which I want to encapsulate in a managed assembly using C++/CLI so that I can use it in C# easily without all the interop codes. So, my question is, what is the replacement for MFC's TRACE macro in VS2005's C++/CLI in...

I have the following code in which I use events to read on eth or serial port when data commes in. The ASCHFProtLib library is a third party library that I have to use as it is. Unfortunately this version of my code does not work. It seems that the events are not triggering when there is a data on any of the eth or serial ports. Basicaly all the events handler functions (OnMsgRecv and similar) are not executed. I have included a piece of...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
