Visual C++.NET Timer problem

Hi,

I'm developing a program in visual c++.NET and have got a problem. My
program will do background number crunching over and over again on a
timer event. My problem is if I change the interval of the timer at
run time and then stop the timer the program will freeze, it doesn't
actually crash (no error dialog comes up) but it will sit there forever
number crunching but the UI doesn't do anything.
Any ideas related to this problem would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

Try:
news:comp.os.ms-windows.program mer.win32
news:microsoft. public.vc.langu age
or one of microsoft.publi c.win32.program mer.*

your problem has nothing to do with C++ _language_.

I have a puzzling form timer problem that I didn't experience prior to Access 2003 (though I'm not sure access 2003 is to blame). Here's the situation: a computer has two access 2003 databases on it, a frontend and a backend. Case 1: If vba code on the frontend updates many rows (360,000) on the backend, a form's timer event (from the frontend) will stop firing until the user gives the form focus. (Note that the update itself always...

I have a .net service that runs a System.Threading.Timer. The delegate points to the function that the service should execute when the timer elapses. Problem: The timer is not ticking. I have never used this timer. I used the documentation from Microsoft as a guide, but I cannot get this timer to work. I have a Timer that I set to go off once a day, but it frequently fails! In order to debug I would like to be able to check, at any moment, whether the Timer is enabled and when it will next Elapse. Is there any way -- whether in my code, or in the O/S -- to determine when a Timer is scheduled to Elapse?

I am trying to build a program for the first time in Visual Basic. I work for a public utility and we will use to track our crews during large outages. It is a simple program with 16 lines of text boxes and a check box. I also have the current time listed using the timer function. I would like for the program to do three things: 1) Time stamp a time text box when text is edited or the check box is checked. 2) Change the font on the...

Note that although this involves SAPI, it is more a question about Timers and event handlers. I wrote a Speech Recognize handler (SAPI), and put some code in it to enable a Timer. It would not do it. If I bring this same code outside this event handler, it works just fine. Is this normal?
