Is it considered OT in theis thread to ask VC++ questions?

Hi,

Just wonder if it would be considered OT to ask a VC++ specific question here?
Can't find a Visual C++ NG though..

Thank you,
Andrey

microsoft.publi c.vc.* hierarchy
microsoft.publi c.dotnet.langua ges.vc newsgroup. If your ISP or the news
server you're using does not carry those, connect to msnews.microsof t.com

I am trying to find the simplest possible way of writing a GUI to run on top of a standard C++ library written in VC++. I would like to avoid MFCs, COM, and if possible .Net wrappers. The goal is just to be able to demonstrate the capabilities of the library, rather than create a finished product. I have read things here and there about "managed code", where you can write a GUI in C# to interface with C++ "unmanaged" code. However,...

Hi, I have two threads, one parent thread containing UI and a child thread waiting for some events from the parent thread. Now, I have two issues: 1) to keep the child thread active till the end of parent thread. 2) Fire event from the parent thread to child thread. To keep the child thread active, i tried different means including while(1){ application.DoEvents()} but seems that it is not working. I am unable to make it work.

I am trying to send a message from a visual c++ user-thread to the main window, so the main window can update text on the window to reflect what the user-thread is doing. I have tried 2 different approaches, and both fail. I don't know what to try next. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ APPROACH #1: (this approach makes the most sence to me) Configure the first parameter of the thread's PostMessage() to talk to the...

I am looking for a sample of how you execute/invoke a method in a form from one thread and have it run on the thread that created the form instead of the thread that actually made the call. The reason I need this is because the method that gets invoked could be updating any number of GUI elements on the form. What would be ideal is to have the code in the thread an not the form since I will have several of these forms. Also, do...

Hi, I have an existing VC 6 MFC application which communicates asynchronly with a VC 2005 managed code dll. I use an unmanaged base class with virtual functions to access methods in the MFC application. Furthermore, I use a pointer to an unmanaged function to jump back into the managed dll. The managed part is basically a remoting enhancement which asynchronly

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
