c++ for real programmers

Hello, All.

It may seem a strange question, but what I need is an original English
quotation from "C++ For Real Programmers" by Jeff Alger.

These couple of sentenses are about how "ugly C++ is and ... and when
you learn to understand and love ugliness, when you stop worrying about
mathematical correctness, it will be your first step towards your
elegance in C++"

I have this extract in Russian and the idea of the passage is this, but
I need the original text really. If any one could help me with it, I'd
really appriciate that.

You can send you replies to ru*********@mai l.ru
And thank you in advance.

Hi. Can anyone refer me to any articles about the compatibility between c++ polymorphism and real-time programming? I'm currently on a real-time c++ project, and we're having a discussion about whether we should allow polymorphism. Our system is not embedded and does not need to be as real-time as, say, a pacemaker. But it does involve updating displays based on radar input. So a need for something close to real-time is desired...

We are in the initial stages of design analysis and I'm trying to come up with some ideas on how to handle the feature our users are requiring from the new application. We are using VB.NET/window forms Feature Requested: A user will be entering some data that will trigger an a notification event. For example I am a research analyst entering a sell recommendation for a stock. Once that action is preformed a notification should be sent...

The answer is generaly "no, but that's the direction we want go..." Is UML have any application in real world of Software design world or is it just an overhyped convept?

Hello, Let me start by saying that I am coming from a background using Matlab (or Octave), and C++. I am going to outline the basic nuts-and-bolts of how I work in these languages, and ask for some help to find out how the same thing is done in Python. I am not sure what the standard is. In C++, I open up an editor in one window, a Unix shell in another. I write the code in the editor, then switch to the shell window for compile...

Hi, I am a newbie here. Here what I want to do and I wonder if it's easy to be achieved using Windows Presentation Foundation: I am going to teach a college course and I want to do real time presentation on website, so if one of my students can't come to campus during class hours she can just log onto the course webpage and see / hear exactly what I am talking about. I want my course page to have following functions:

To All, I have done some additional research into the possibility of utilizing Python for hard real time development. I have seen on various websites where this has been discussed before on the internet. However, I was wondering as to how successful anyone has truly been in developing a program project either in windows or in Linux that was or extremely close to real time constraints? For example is it possible to develop a python...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
