I have a customer who is having problems when their Windows
2000/IIS/PHP-based system begins to experience a level of loading that
isn't, in my view, unreasonably high. I'm wondering what others
think, specifically:
- are these volumes, for this kind of configuration, at or beyond the
levels at which PHP should be able to cope? I hope not !
- what might be done to alleviate these problems? One of our
suspicions is that Windows...

After working in c# for a year, the only conclusion I can come to is
that I wish I knew c.
All I need is Linux, the gnu c compiler and I can do anything.
Web services are just open sockets hooked up to interfaces.
The Gtk is more than enough gui.

Right now, the code I wrote below seems works fine, i know it's definitely
not the best solution, so if there are better solutions to
eschew from using goto statements to jump out of multiple loops ?
and any other suggestions or good ideas that are pertain to construct
a more powerful and common interactive menu system is also welcomed,
and if there's any primitive but better interactive system that is
written in C suitable for educational...

There is a brilliant application that allows you to wrap your EXE and all
associated DLLs, OCXs, etc. into a single executable and run the executable
on Windows OSs with no install and nor registration of the files. It will
even include only the portions of the .Net framework that are required for
your application.
The app is called Thinstall. the problem is the cost. $4,000 license fee
PER APPLICATION PLUS A PER PC LICENSE FEE for...

I just put the draft of my paper on the web:
http://cern.ch/laurent.deniau/html/cos-oopsla07-draft.pdf
I would be interested by any feedback from C programmers (with little OO
knowledge) to improve the paper quality, even if I don't know yet if the
paper will be accepted. It is not intended to be a manual nor an
introduction to OOP. Just to mention it (not in the paper), my
programming background is 10+ years of C/C++.

Hi:
From what I've read of OOP, I don't get it. I have also found some
articles profoundly critical of OOP. I tend to relate to these articles.
However, those articles were no more objective than the descriptions of
OOP I've read in making a case. Ie., what objective
data/studies/research indicates that a particular problem can be solved
more quickly by the programmer, or that the solution is more efficient
in execution time/memory...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
