Hi all,
Forgive me if I've expressed the subject line ill.
What I'm trying to do is to call a c++ function given the following:
a. A function name. This would be used to fetch a list of function
descriptors for the overloaded functions of that name. A function
descriptor would contain the address of the function to be called, and
a description of the parameters that it must take.
b. A list of parameters. This would be compared to the...

I am trying to pass the address of a C++ function into a Fortran
routine to enable the Fortran routine to call this C++ function. I
have to do it this way as our build process does not allow circular
dependencies of DLL's.
Does anyone know how to do this, I have tried everything in my book.
I have a C++ function GetP:
DllExport void GetP()

Where should I use them?
I am giving you my understandings. Please correct me if I am wrong:
MACRO:
e.g.:#define ref-name 99
The code is substituted by the MACRO ref-name. So no overhead.
Execution is faster. Where will it be stotred?(Is it in bss/stack/?)
FUNCTION:

Mimick the older C/ pascal dll parameter passing convention? - VB Class Mod?
Hello,
I have been attempting to write a VB class that would
expose its stuff to an older (ok, legacy application)
program which can load and call exported functions from
the old style dlls.
With little documentation to go on, my legacy app defines

I need to do the exactly same thing in VB.NET.
Load a unmanaged C DLL dynamically and then call a function in which I pass
the callback function as an argument. My C function being called callback as
type _cdecl.
Does anybody have any ideas?

I have a Managed VC++ WinForms app in VC8 calling a member function of a
class in a native DLL.
My managed code is similar to this:
System::Void btnTest_Click(System::Object^ sender, System::EventArgs^ e) {
Receiver r;
std::vector<char> v;
v.push_back('A');

My problem: I need to call (from C code) an arbitrary C library
function, but I don't know until runtime what the function name is,
how many parameters are required, and what the parameters are. I can
use dlopen/whatever to convert the function name into a pointer to
that function, but actually calling it, with the right number of
parameters, isn't easy.
As far as I can see, there are only two solutions:
1) This one is portable. If...

Hello All,
since the programs' stack is shared among all the function inside the
program,
I was just doing some R&D to see whether the same stack space is used
for the variables inside the different functions are not.
below is my code
//program start
void fun1()
{int i;

Hi,
I can compile and run this code (see below) which twice calls the
function f, first with too less, second with too much arguments.
But is it legal and free of memory leaks and other problems? Of course,
I presume that inside f I don't access i in case it was called via g.
int f(int i){ /* ... */ return 0; }

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
