Converting Non-Unicode Characters

Howdy All,

Here is my problem: I have over 10,000 files that have file names in
Korean. When running Windows 98, and then Windows 2000 these file
names appeared in Korean with no problems when I used this software
NJSTAR.

Fast forward: I am now running Windows XP and none of the file names
appear properly, even if I use NJSTAR and/or all the built in XP
Unicode utilities and such.

So, obviously these file names are not Unicode. Who knows what they
are. But since everything is going Unicode, I figure it would be to
my advantage to re-name them or convert them to Unicode standard.

10,000 files......is there a program out there to do this for me???

Thanks,

Arthur

PS: I am not a C or Java programmer, so this is probably something I
need a pre-written app to do for me......

You couldn't be in a wronger place. Try the likes of
www.download.com, searching for something like "filename
Unicode".

I have a website ( http://www.zen62775.zen.co.uk ) that I made HTML 4.01 Transitional and CSS compliant, and I'm thinking of converting it into XHTML to learn a little about it. Which XHTML variant would you recommend? The w3c HTML validator mentions XHTML 1.0 Transitional, Basic, Strict, and XHTML 1.1. Would I be able to make my existing CSS work in the XHTML page without modification to the .css file?

Hi! Does anyone here know of a way to goad DB2 into converting a correlated subquery to a non-correlated one? Does DB2 ever do such a conversion? We have a query of the form SELECT .. FROM A WHERE EXISTS (SELECT 'X' FROM B, C WHERE B.COL1 = A.COL1 AND B.COL2 = A.COL2

hi, I am using a webservice which Returns the Result in an XML string, The XML response i get i svery cumbersome to parse, But if i could convert it to the Corresponding Class using the System.Xml.Serialization, i think that can solve my problem. But i tried using the Deserialize method for converting the XML to the Corresponding Object, neither i get error nor i get any luck for converting it to Object.

Hi, This is my first post to the list, I hope somebody can help me with this problem. Apologies if it has been posted before but I have been internet searching to no avail. What I am trying to do is provide a simple method for a user to change a config file, for a test suite. The config file consists of a number of keys, eg. build number, target device, etc.

I am converting (attempting) some vb6 code that makes vast use of interfaces. One of the major uses is to be able to split out Read-only access to an obect. Let me give you a simple (contrived) example: In Project RoObjDefs: RoPerson.cls file: Public Property Get FirstName() as String Public Property Get LastName() as String <end of file RoPerson.cls> RoPersons.cls file Public Function Count() as Integer

Recently in our code, I ran into a situation where were stuffing a float inside a double. The precision was extended automatically because of that. To make a long story short, this caused problems elsewhere in another part of the system where that figure was used for some calculation and some eventual truncation led to the system going haywire. So my question is, given this code: int main() { float f = 59.89F;

Problem: You have numbers in string format, but you need to convert them to a numeric type, such as an int or float. Solution: You can do this with the standard library functions. The functions strtol, strtod, and strtoul, defined in <cstdlib>, convert a null- terminated character string to a long int, double, or unsigned long. You can use them to convert numeric strings of any base to a numeric

I want to convert a string representation of a number ("1234") to an int, with overflow and underflow checking. Essentially, I'm looking for a strtol() that converts int instead of long. The problem with strtol() is that a number that fits into a long might be too big for an int. sscanf() doesn't seem to do the over/underflow checking. atoi(), of course, doesn't do any checking. I've long thought it odd that there aren't strtoi() and...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
