The good news:
Along with Python-2.4 comes really good news to Windows users. Yes,
you now CAN build extension modules yourself using the SAME C++
compiler and linker Python is built with itself. Everything you need
is available at no costs (except download hassle and installation

I have downloaded the newest boos release.
I am havng problems building boost using the intel C++ 8.0 compiler.
It looks as if bjam can't fine the icl.exe compiler executable itself.
This file is installed under this directory
C:\Program Files\Intel\CPP\Compiler80\Ia32\Bin
Any ideas what I do wrong?
I try this:
run the iclvars.bat batch file.

If anyone is interested in using db2uext2 with Cygwin gcc compiler on
Windows, I've modified the IBM provided sample with the attached file.
There are two main modifications.
The mkdir command is the POSIX compliant version as opposed to the
MicroSoft C compiler. The second parameter to mkdir is the file mode.
In this case, I've made the directories created to be
read/write/execute(list) for all users.

I'm now using Cygwin as my compiler for C code. I use Dev-c++ as my
editor.
The reason why I chose Cygwin compiler instead of the compiler that
came with Dev-C++ is that I believe it uses the same environment as in
Linux, so that I don't have to write different sourcecode for both OS.
Eventhough, I don't understand about Linux much, and I'm still a
beginner in programming, I still have to make my program compatible

So, I download the latest "stable" tar for perl (5.8.7) and try to compile
it on the Solaris 8 (SPARC) box that I administrate. I try all sorts of
different switches, but I can't get it to compile. I need it to be
compiled with threads.
Anyone have any wisdom on how best to do this?
Here's a transcript of my latest attempt. It's long; you might want to
skip to the bottom, where I try "make" and the fatal errors start
happening.
