Is there a way to sort a datareader based on certain columns?

TIA

Not within the reader, no. You would need to sort the data before reading,
in the query of the Command object.

John,
The DataReader is designed to provide forward-only access through it's rows,
and to provide this access only "One" (1) time.
Sounds like you want a DataSet with a DataTable in it. This provides much
more functionality. Or, as Tom suggested, do the sort in the SQL command
query that produces the resultset in the first place.
