Hi,

Is it possible to have 2 CMS sites on the same server box a read only site
and a read/write site? If this is possible is there any drawbacks to it?

It would depend entirely on the CMS.
It's possible to have multiple sites on the same server,
you could have multiple sites access the same database.

I have developed an engine that I use for all of my clients web sites. They are all the same type of site, some use features A, B, & C. Some web sites just use features A & B. My issue is that in order for me to make a new site, I am copying the files and then adding in the design/unique look. This makes developing new features and fixing old features a huge hassle because:

I've seen a few attractive multi-column sites whose geometry is based on pure CSS-P, but they're what you might call "code afficionado" sites, where the subject matter of the site is "coding practices." (One example of this is alistapart.com.) However, the project/development realities for small boutique sites are completely different from those of large commercial or institutional sites -- and I was curious to see what coding approaches...

I have created a database application consisting of a front end and backend file. Data entry and administration of the application are done at a central location. The next requirement is to be able to distribute the appllication each month to five remote sites by sending the sites a CD. The sites will only use the application to lookup data in the database and print reports. The sites will make no data entry. I need comments and suggestions...

We have several intranet ASP.NET web sites. Users log on to the sites by using form authentication and custom security (user names and passwords are stored in the database). If a user logs on to the first site and from within this site is redirected to another one, we would like to pass its security information along, so the user doesn't need to log on again. I am thinking of making a gateway page that will have two url parameters,...

Hello I would like to have several sites share a single web.config file. To accomplish this, I would point the root of these sites to the same folder. Is there any reason why I might not want to do this? (IIS 5 or 6 In case you're wondering why I would do this, we have many web sites on a single server, and there are groups of sites that need to share common configuration information. I'd like to ease some administration by having one...

I'm writing a small C# utility application that creates new Web Sites via ADSI. It seems to work just fine for the most part -- meaning that IIS Metabase entries look either identical or "different where expected" - when comparing Web Sites created with my utility against Web Sites created "manually" with IIS Manager. I'm comparing the sites visually (eye balling it) with Metabase Explorer. The problem I have with Web Sites created with...

Hello, I am trying to create a website on port 8888 with VisualStuidio 2005. When I go to create a new project or migrate from an old one, everything seems to work fine, but when I go to build I get an error on every .aspx page like: ASP.NET runtime error: '/www.website.com:8888/' is not a valid virtual path. page.aspx 1 1 http://www.website.com:8888/ This always worked fine in VS.NET 2003 and earlier. I found another user on

Hi, How can I access the trusted sites list for the currently logged in user programmatically? Is there some sort of IE API which I can call to get this information or is it stored in a file anywhere? I need to write a program which checks if certain sites are in a users list of trusted sites and if not prompt them to add the sites. This is for use with some browser based order system which are users use and they often

I'm developing a service which is two sites: a Mobile Site and a PC-Based Site. The whole goal is to have them operate very similarly but, of course, there will be many differences: 1. Web.configs will be different to handle cookieless vs. cookied Sessions 2. Mobile site will have no Master Pages (unfortunately) 3. Design of pages will be VASTLY different However, many elements will be exactly the same: a. I'll use most of the same...

Basically, what I want is web sites where I can see lots of examples, different design styles, color combinations etc etc. Sites where I can see professionally looking UIs from usability point of view. In short, sites which every ASP.NET developer should know.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
