EventID does not match the displayed value in the MMC

hi there,

i've hardly tried to find a solution. searched forums, usenet,
google...

so. i am having an application, that loops thru all the entries in
the eventlog and reads those values. in a configuration-database i
have some eventids, which i want to match. i've read the eventids
from the mmc for this.

now, if i read the values of the EventLogEntry sometimes i get a
different value than displayed in the mmc. i found in some articles,
that it has to do with a linking to a specified message in the registry
or so. i am not hundred-percent sure, what this is all about.

does anyone of you know, how i can retrieve the eventid-value for an
event exactly as displayed in the mmc?

thanks in advance,

crea
