I have a NotifyIcon in my Windows Service project and I am trying to
add a ContextMenu to this NotifyIcon or use some of the mouse events.
Everything isn't working. I think so base class of the service
System.ServiceProcess.ServiceBase don't catchWindows messages like mouse or
timer messages. Any Idea?
Thanks,

On my dev machine (XP/Pro with VS.NET 2003) I have been developing a Windows
Service and installing it on the local machine by opening the Visual Studio
Command Prompt and then executing .
Now I want to test this service on a Windows Server 2003 box that doesn't
have the Visual Studio Command prompt.
How do I go about installing the service on the Windows Server 2003 box?
Thanks!

I have a C# Windows Service running as the NetworkService account because it
needs to access a network share.
As part of the service's initialization, I want the service to terminate, if
an unrecoverable error occurs. When that case occurs, I create a
ServiceController object and call the Stop() method.
However - I get an exception thrown saying access denied. If I switch to
using the LocalService account it works fine, but I lose...

there is a ServiceProcessDescriptionAttribute class but
how do I use?
Thanks,

Hi all,
I have a strange problem. I have two applications written on Java and
..NET (third party application).
Both the applications are talking each other through SOAP. I need to
add a Web service in between two of these services to log few
attributes. Since one of the Web Service is not compatible to the WS-I
standards, I want to send the data from another application to this as

Greetings.
I have an application that I am building in C#. Basically I have 5 web
service applicationsthat run with a client and a socket adapter.
Everything connects and works fine when I run the web service
applications in the cassini web server form. However, when I try to
use them running in IIS, they no longer connect with my client and
socket adapter. Is there a known problem with IIS and web service
applications. Do I need to...

Hi all,
I read an article from
http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/Code/2003/Sept/InstallingWinServiceProgrammatically.asp
about how to install a windows service programmatically.
Based on the code sample, it provides the feature to install
service
under LocalSystem account.
What I need is to install service under NT
AUTHORITY\NetworkService, so that my service can access the shared
network resources.

I am sure this has been asked at least once before but I could not find
anything when searching.
If I set the value of the ExitCode property to 1066 for a windows service,
the text "A service specific error occured: 0." How do I (if it is possible)
change the value of the zero to something custom (like a "look in the event
log for further information" message)?
Thank you,

I've been looking at two approaches for the maintenance of Session state for
a Web Service application.
One approach uses the old familiar Session object which I've used in the
past for Web applications. As far as I can see, the Session approach is
non-standard since Web Services are supposed to be agnostic with respect to
their clients. It seems that cookies are outside the Web Service standard;
therefore, such a Web Service application...

Hi all,
I'm sure most of us round here have heard of Dino Esposito - *very* well
respected in our industry...
I was reading an article of his in this month's VSJ entitled "Architecture
guidelines for ASP.NET AJAX applications", where he outlines his definition
of the difference between web sites and web applications - you can read it
here: http://www.itarchitect.co.uk/articles/display.asp?id=351 - scroll

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
