I have a python script which uses pexpect and I want to timeout (i.e. raise
pexpect.TIMEOUT) if a long running command does not produce the output I am
expecting. To simulate the 'long running command', consider the following
example which simply runs the 'yes' command which prints an endless series
of 'y' characters to the terminal. I want to timeout after 10 seconds -:
child=pexpect.spawn('ssh me@remote_host')
child.sendline('yes')...

Hello
I develop an application which must call a WebService on a server (develop
with ASP.NET framework)
If I call this application from XP client station, no problem occurs
BUT if i call the same application on Windows 98, sometime everything work
fine, sometime, I have a timeout exception (after 2 or 3 minutes !)

I have a problem with the WebClient and uploading a file to a web server. The
stream object returned from the WebClient.OpenWrite menthod throws a timeout
exception when using this method on computers w/ low bandwith ( < = 256 kbs).
The exception occurs when I call the Stream.Close method. Here is the code:

When you write code, you can generally structure it so that you handle all
the errors, so when is it most appropriate to Throw an exception rather than
coding for error handling in a more granular sense.

Hi all,
According to "How can I handle a constructor that fails?" in
http://www.parashift.com/c++-faq-lite/exceptions.html#faq-17.2,
whenever there is a constructor fail, we will throw exception.
However, how can we make the interface easy to use correctly and hard
to use incorrectly? Client may forget/ ignore from having a try...catch
block whenever they call the constructor. Is there any way we can
prevent this from happen?

Is there any way I can intercept the session timeout exception, and
1) Run some code routine, ie log the error and it's context
2) Show nicer output to the user
Please do not suggest to increase the session timeout value, or write a code
that doesn't loop. No fools here. There are possible contexts where I want
to keep the session timeout reasonably low, but need to log the occasions,
when it's hit, to rearchitecture those...

I need to know if an email was refused for whatever reason, it makes
no difference.
The email is sent to an email address that does not exist in a foreign
domain. I can see in the postfix log that the email was sent and
bounced with the error code 550.
The problem is that sendmail should throw an exception but it does
not. And the returned dictionary is empty as if the email was
accepted.
