Assembly missing in GAC after Publish?

Hi,

We're using ClickOnce alreaddy more than a year for a given applicaiton,
doing more than 50 publishes without any problem.

Yesterday we made a minor change to one of our components (let's say with
the name MyAssembly), and incremented it's version (AssemblyVersio n: from
0.1.7.0 to 0.1.7.1). We did the Publish with ClickOnce, but when the users
know want to run the application they get this error:
"Unable to install or run the application. The application requires that
assembly MyAssembly Version 0.1.7.0
be installed in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) first."
This is so weird, especially when knowing we had alreaddy inremented this
version number without any problems in the past.

Anybody has any idea? Your help will be really appreciated!
Thanks a lot in advance,
Pieter

Aaargh never mind, I've found it:
What was actually happening was soem type of dll hell :-)
Another component in the project was referencing the same assembly, but did
it with a compiled version, not the source of the project. so when doing the
publish there was some conflict between the old one and the new one...

This conflict should be more visible in the output window when doing a build
:-)

Hi,
If you need to play with GAC manually, you can also refer to this

Hello, We seem to need a PIA for MSXML 4. According to the documentation, only the original publisher of a COM type library is supposed to create a .NET PIA. As far as I know, Microsoft hasn't done that yet. Our problem is that we very much want to create a PIA for a COM component of ours, but TlbImp.exe /primary insists that all referenced dependencies be PIAs as well. Our component has a type library reference to MSXML 4, hence the...

Hello, somewhere i've read that using strong names does assure two things: 1. Assure that the content of the assembly is not modified (that's ok in my opinion) 2. Assure that the assembly is really from the "fabricator" (?) If these two point are correct (i'm not sure), i have a problem with point 2. To assure the authentity of the fabricator, the public key (which is a part of the manifest) has to be checked against a certificate.

Hi, I've read many posts in several news groups, but can't figure out how to publish my website. The specific error I'm getting (on the "successfully published website") is "Could not load the assembly 'App_Web_vxfyglsm'. Make sure that it is compiled before accessing the page". I checked - The assembly DOES exist in the target web folder.

In ASP.NET 1.1 I used to retreive the version of my code-behind assembly using following syntax: Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetName().Version The version was defined in AssemblyInfo.cs using After migrating to ASP.NET 2.0 this line of code always return 0.0.0.0. How do I retreive the assembly version of ASP.NET application? Thanks

From the project designer when I click on the "Application Files" on the "Publish" tab there are some missing assemblies that are required. I can't find a way to explicitly specify a required assembly, is this possible? I don't know WHY VS2005 thinks the assembly in question is not required, but it does. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve

Hello NG, I realized, that my application won't start, if a referenced assembly is missing. Basically this is understandable, but since I destribute my applictaion without a setup, it can happen that I forget one or the other .dll. Since my app depends on a whole bunch of .dll it would be great, if the app could tell me which assemblies are missing instead of not starting at all.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
