Hi,
Now that GCC 3.4 has precompiled headers, I'm thinking I can stop
using pimpls to speed up development time, as it may make life
easier (declaring pimpls takes a long time...)
What are the views of the experienced users of various C++
implementations? Do precompiled headers allow pimpls to be
avoided while maintaining the same speed up of development time?

At what point was the .h dropped from the STL headers? I just had a
discussion yesterday with my boss, who said he wanted .h on all the
STL includes, despite me protesting that it was not standard...

I am looking for an elegant solution for the following problem:
I have two projects for which I have to create a kind of bridge
or translator between. For each of the projects there exist a set of headers
included by practicaly all of the member .c files.
For my bridge I would be using all those "main" headers from
both of the projects included together.
But unfortunately, due to historical reasons, those headers
conflict in many...

Hi,
Can anybody tell me if it is possible to add your own headers through this
class.
The documenttion seems to be a bit ambiguous, for example the overview of
the methods says
Specifies the custom headers that are transmitted with the e-mail message.
but the property is read only

Hi,
Is there a way to show the column headers of a GridView control even if
there is no data? The only thing I see is the EmptyDataTemplate but I would
also like to display the column headers.
Thanks
Hans

First of all I apologize in advance if this topic does not exactly fit
but if someone could still address it I would appreciate it.
My boss tasked me to take out all references of this third party
software ie functions, headers, libs and put them in a dll. I recently
moved the main functions, the libs, and the includes out of the exe and
into the dll.
I am using loadlibrary to load the dll into memory and I am using
getprocaddress to...

I have been using an xml parsing script to parse a number of rss feeds
and return relevant results to a database. The script has worked well
for a couple of years, despite having very crude error-trapping (if it
finds an error in one of the xml files, the script stops). Recently, the
script has stopped working because one of the xml files is badly formed.
So I decided to rewrite the script with better error trapping; the
script should...

Headers
What are they?
What does PHP have to do with headers?
Why can they only be sent before any output?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
