Hi,

I am trying to implement a pooling system Is there any way i can get

..NET prefers explicit Close/Dispose for its connection pools.

I think you should follow their example.

Hi, I am having this interesting SQL problem with mysql Ver 12.22 Distrib 4.0.16, for apple-darwin7.0 (powerpc). For some reason count(*) does give the right result, when I replace it with sum(1) it works. mysql> select term, year, count(*) from course where year = 2001 group by term, year; +--------+------+--------------------+ | term | year | count(*) |

Hi there, Hoping someone could advise me here pls; I'm creating a C# class that implements a telnet client socket allowing a VB . NET application to communicate with telnet servers. After leaving the app running for just 6 hrs, the thread count exploded to close to 1000, before the app finally stops responding. The handles probably hit close to 10000. Tracing my code, I isolated the leak to when I execute a telnet command. Everytime I...

C++ is a great language. You can instantiate an object on the stack, grab whatever resources you need, and free them in the destructor. Object destructors are called in the correct order (the reverse order), and are guaranteed to be called when the object goes out of scope. Unfortunately this is not so in C# (or Java) since you cannot tell when the Garbage Collector will run. In C# you can call Dispose (assuming it's implemented),...

I know how to use references but i DO not get WHY they exist other than to add to the language. Are they actually needed for anything?

I'm wondering if a tool exists that will integrate with the VS 2005 debugger, such that when I set a breakpoint I can inspect a reference and see how many other references exist to that object. I'm sure there is an internal reference count somewhere but have no idea how to inspect it.

Is there such a way to ensure that at a time just one variable (pointer to ref type) is used to maintain the object. This is needed for a multi-threded application where shared data should be used properly. In general I`ve done this by locking objects` fields using mutexes or lock(){} mechanism, but this cann`t be done for CRL general types (as collections) where from several places the data could be used by different pointers .. 10x in...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
