Getting portion of string

RP
I have a string in the following format

Computer [comp]

I want to remove the text that starts with [. Though I used substring
which keeps checking whether the character is [ and stops reading more
characters. I want to know is there any built-in function for this
that is both fast and easy to use.

if you only want to get the string before '['. try ...

string str = "Computer[comp]";
str = str.Substring(0 , str.IndexOf("["));

if there are multiple "[]" in your string try this.

string str = "Comp[cooom] makes [power] one cry";
string[] array = str.Split(']');
string finishedString = string.Empty;
foreach (string member in array)
{
if (member.Contain s("["))
finishedString += member.Substrin g(0, member.IndexOf( "["));
else
finishedString += member;
}

I don't think there is any built in String functionality.
You might try this:

string str = "Comp[cooom] makes [power] one cry";
while (str.IndexOf('[') >= 0 || str.IndexOf(']') >= 0)
{
int start = str.IndexOf("[");
int end = str.IndexOf("]");
str = str.Remove(star t, (end - start + 1));
}
Console.WriteLi ne(str);

Depending on the size of the string, you might consider using the
StringBuilder class.

Greg

I am finding that when I use the cloneNode method to copy an HTML element that contains a <script> tag, the contents of the <script> tag, (ie. the javascript) are removed. If I do this: var form1 = document.getElementById(sID).firstChild.cloneNode(true); alert(form1.outerHTML); I can see the empty <script> tags. I am wondering if there is a reasonable workaround for this, because I need the script tag with its

Hi, I'm using the following and the insert portion works fine but I'm not getting the return value (TicketID) which is the identify column of the table. I can't figure out what I'm missing; all examples I see use stored procs but I need to use a string command for this. Dim sSQL As String = "INSERT INTO eTicket(Priority, Category) VALUES(@iPriority, @iCategory)" Dim cmd As DbCommand = db.GetSqlStringCommand(sSQL) db.AddInParameter(cmd,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
